NEWS FROM LAKE PLACID
The annual Ice Skating Institute (ISI) Competition in Lake Placid, New York, was held on Friday, January 9 through Sunday, January 11, 2015. Skaters from primarily the tri-state area, compete with other teams in and around the northeastern section of the United States. The Great Neck Park District’s Synchro Teams, the Icettes (ages 10-12), Icicles (ages 8-9) and Ice Pops (ages 6-7), totaling 33 skaters, were awarded individual medals and team trophy’s. Overall, the Icettes and the Ice Pops came in second place and the Icicles won first place. Head Coach, Audra Smith; Team Manager/Assistant Coach, Carole Liotti; Assistant Coach, Claudia Sersanti and Assistant Coach, Tracey Dolan couldn’t be prouder of the skaters!
Also present at the event was the Great Neck Ice Theater team lead by Shannon Leigh Lenihan. The team earned second place out of six groups in Lake Placid! The Park District Commissioners and staff offer congratulations to all and would like to say “Keep up the GREAT work” to all of the skaters!
Special Teen Friday Night Recreation
Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink is the “coolest” place in town for teens, every Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. Along with skating, there will be special music, club-like lighting, fun activities (on and off the ice), giveaways, tasty food at the snack bar and adult supervision. The Park District is the safest place for a teen to spend Friday nights, while parents enjoy a night out on their own with peace of mind. Admission fee applies whether or not you go on the ice.

Park Card Renewals
Park cards can be renewed at Great Neck House. It is necessary to have a current park card in order to participate in Park District programs. All family members, including children, must be entered into the computer prior to registration for any course, car permit, daily/ monthly parking tickets, summer play group/camp, pool membership, indoor tennis time or tennis lessons. Great Neck House now provides internet service throughout the entire building. So if you are taking a class, picking up your child or just relaxing bring your laptop or smart phone to Great Neck House at 14 Arrandale Avenue and stay connected. WiFi is also accessible at the lounge and snack bar area at Parkwood Sports Complex,65 Arrandale Avenue. You can stay connected no matter what the season.
