Great Neck Bruins Travel Hockey Program 2013
The season is well underway and we hope everyone is having a good time.
To Schedule a game with the Bruins please contact our master scheduler Dave at schildkraut3@gmail.com

League Games
All the teams will be playing in both the Long Island Amateur Hockey League and the Hudson Valley Youth Hockey League. Scheduling is an ongoing process throughout the summer and should be available in early September. Our present home game slots are on Saturdays as follows: Squirts 6-7:15am, Peewee 7:30-8:45am, Bantam 9-10:30am, Midget Minor 10:45-12:15pm, and Midget Major 12:30-2pm. These times are a sample and are subject to change based upon team travel and scheduling conflicts. The schedule will encompass somewhere between 30-40 games plus playoffs.

Tournaments
We plan to attend two tournaments during the season. One tournament is usually during the weekend of the Thanksgiving break. The second tournament is usually held at the conclusion of our regular season. This is usually one of the first three weekends in March. You will be notified as to the dates and times as we lock in our plans. The end of season tournament will be substituted by a New York State Championship tournament if a team progresses to that level.

Fees:
TBA

Uniforms:

Players are responsible for the purchase of their own home and away uniform. Information on the uniform purchase will be emailed to the individual players by their team managers after the teams and managers are selected. Last season the price of the uniform was $175. The uniform set includes a home and away jersey and matching socks. The uniform will match the previous season’s uniforms so if you are a returning player and your uniform is in good shape there is no need to purchase a new one.

New Hockey Academy
The Great Neck Park District’s newly redesigned and improved house league program is the best in the area. The Hockey Academy at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink is a dynamic program being offered to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 13. No hockey experience is needed to participate. Specifically designed for the player who loves ice hockey but cannot make the commitment to travel or play a 40-plus game schedule, you will see that this program offers convenient times and sessions at modest prices. Join in, if you want to learn hockey and have lots of enjoyment in the process.

The main focus is FUN! Our team of hockey coaches are dedicated to keeping your children safe as they have fun learning basic hockey skills.  The curriculum is designed to develop skating, shooting, and stick handling.  A strong emphasis will be placed on all aspects of the game through innovative drills, clinics, off-ice conditioning, special activities, scrimmages and intramural games as well as a limited schedule of games against other rinks. You can come down to the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink to be fitted and purchase your equipment, simultaneously. Special off-ice, conditioning and training sessions are also included.

Register for the entire 2013-14 season and receive a hockey jersey at no additional cost. The prices are unbeatable.
